Building your own bridge crane

With modest workshop facilities available, you are able to build your own bridge crane. TEGA will assist you by supplying electromechanical components, detailed technical instructions and drawings (know-how) so that you may assemble them with the most convenient, locally sourced beam(s). The result is a state-of-the-art bridge crane, under F.E.M. (European Federation of Handling Industries) and ASME/CMAA (Crane Manufacturers Association of America) standards.

What TEGA supplies

2. The electrical equipment of the crane.
3. The electric hoist (lifting unit) with the appropriate single or double guirder trolley. There are four modules, two driving modules fitted with wheels, shafts, ring gears and independent motor units with brakes, and a set of two driven modules, fitted with wheels. Both module sets include high resilience bumpers. TEGA produces end carriages covering a wide range of requirements. The electrical equipment includes a full control panel board, a push button pendant box, suspended from the electric hoist or the electric trolley, cable feed for the bridge crane and the appropriate supporting trolleys, track and brackets, main isolating switch with a mounting plate, travel limit switches, and the necessary wiring to interconnect components.

What you supply

In order to build the bridge you need one or two standard rolled steel beams as suggested by TEGA, according to bridge crane span and load capacity. Each kit includes basic drawings and technical instructions, suggestions for assembly of the bridge crane. For double girder bidge cranes, you must also provide the square rail the trolley runs on and end stops.

When to choose a single or double girder bridge crane

Certain features must be considered for bridge cranes of up to 5 tons. Single girder bridge cranes are less expensive and require less headroom (rail to ceiling). Please, make sure you are able to provide the following information when you request a quote: load capacity, span (thread) between rails, load hook travel, hoisting height, electrical supply available: 3 x 220/ 380/ 440/ V 50 or 60 Hz.
